Execution of Deeds

 

A formal document may be executed as a “deed” (also known as document “under seal” in the past) under UK (and certain common law countries e.g. Hong Kong) legal system. The primary advantage of a deed is that it dispenses with the requirement of “consideration” in ordinary contract and the longer “limitation period” (12 years as opposed to the usual 6, cf. section 8 of the Limitations Act 1980).
